As a Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW), Mimi provides therapeutic services for adolescents and their families at Ethos Wellness – Prism. She works to meet each client where they are emotionally and mentally while supporting their growth and goals. She believes in empowering clients with healthy coping skills and boundaries—both with themselves and with others in their lives—for a better quality of life.
Mimi completed her graduate program at the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work. During her education, she gained a variety of clinical experience with Communities In Schools of Houston at Lone Star College, Texas Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Kung Yung Koon in Hong Kong.
As a LMSW at various schools with Communities in Schools of Houston, Mimi facilitated individual and group sessions for children, adolescents, emerging adults and their families, which were easily accessible throughout the school day. She created client-based programs consisting of bibliotherapy, a mix of play and art therapy and mindfulness. In addition to these modalities, Mimi’s approach also contains solution-focused, trauma-informed and strengths-based interventions.
Mimi was also part of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team at Communities In Schools of Houston. She believes that mental illness can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, social status, religion or other types of cultural identity. It is important to her to provide psychotherapy with cultural humility, and she will continue to reflect and grow in this area throughout her career.
