Sophia Hountalas, LCPC, NCC

Clinician at Ethos Wellness River North

Sophia Hountalas is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University. She specializes in treating individuals of all ages struggling with anxiety and depression, and she especially enjoys working with young adults as they navigate the process of discovering who they are and who they want to be. Sophia hopes to meet her clients where they’re at with empathy, encouragement and humor, all while challenging them to reach their goals.

During graduate school, Sophia completed an internship at a substance use intensive outpatient program for working professionals, developing a mindfulness and yoga program that was incorporated into treatment. Upon receiving her master’s, she worked at a substance use methadone clinic as an individual and group therapist, then went on to manage a substance use and mental health program for individuals previously incarcerated and on parole. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher, a Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider and a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional.

In her spare time, having worked in hospitality for ten years, Sophia enjoys trying new restaurants for both the food and experience. In fact, she enjoys trying new things in general, having recently picked up tennis, golf and skiing. She is very close to her family and feels a strong connection to both her culture and the story of immigration that brought them here.
