As a clinician at Ethos Wellness, Marina is passionate about helping those adjusting to life transitions. Whether it is a new school, country, diagnosis or relationship, her goal is to offer a safe, non-judgmental space that encourages clients to make healthy choices and improve the quality of their interpersonal connections. Marina hopes to hold a space where scary things can be discussed, but mostly, where strengths can be highlighted and progress celebrated.
For those who may struggle with accomplishing tasks at work or school, procrastination, time management and organization, Marina offers customized executive function and self-management coaching sessions, working to help clients improve these fundamental skills.
A Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a psychology degree from Brazil, Marina strives to see each client’s symptoms in the context of their unique social experience. With sensitivity and compassion, she is committed to helping clients understand the roles they play in their families and communities, and how this may be impacting their ability to form a healthy connection with others and reclaim the truth of who they really are.
With experience working with adults, children, adolescents and families, Marina draws on a variety of theoretical approaches, including psychodynamic, somatic experience and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). She is always searching for new techniques that can attend to the unique needs of each client. Having completed a fellowship at the Trauma Program from the Graduate College of Social Work at the University of Houston, she also offers trauma-informed therapy.
Marina is fluent in Portuguese (native), English, and Spanish, and has a conversational knowledge of German. She is passionate about traveling and understanding more of the differences and similarities that make us human, as well as how people’s cultural ideas and practices shape their emotions and lives. We are all impacted by biological, psychological and social factors, Marina notes. By understanding how those parts are connected, she believes we can get to the root cause of our struggles and assess the resources we need to heal.
