Mia Banda, LMSW

Group Leader | Post Graduate Fellow | Clinician at Ethos Wellness Prism and Woodway

From a young age, Mia has always wanted to pursue a career in mental health. During her freshman year in high school, she understood the importance of creating a genuine connection as others shared their personal stories in her teen leadership class. She went on to chase her goal of becoming a therapist at the University of Houston, majoring in psychology, where she worked at the GENESIS lab conducting educational lessons to youth with learning disabilities at a juvenile detention center. This sparked her passion for social justice issues, which led to receiving her Master of Social Work from the University of Houston.

During the last year in her graduate program, Mia interned with Ethos Behavioral Health Group at the Ethos Wellness – Prism location. Currently a Fellow at Ethos Behavioral Health Group, Mia not only strives to connect with clients through a compassionate and understanding lens, but she is continuing to receive specialized training in areas of interest such as family and couples therapy.

Mia has a background working with young adults and adolescents in both group and individual settings and specializes in gender, sexuality and related periods of transition. She approaches her therapeutic technique with a psychodynamic background and implements multiple therapeutic modalities such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Therapy.

Outside of work, Mia loves spending time with her dog, bouldering whenever she has the chance and the company of her close friends.
