Miki Brownstone

PhD · Psychologist

Miki Brownstone, PhD (she/her/hers) is a warm, relational psychologist who believes compassion and a good sense of humor are key to a supportive and connected client/therapist relationship. She approaches her work with curiosity and kindness, seeking to help clients unfold and understand what is most meaningful to them. Miki understands that vulnerability requires courage and she respects the strength it takes to seek and engage in therapy.

Dr. Brownstone received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. During her time in Chicago, Miki gained an appreciation for working with diverse populations and for how various cultures, systems, and barriers interplay in our lives. She completed her clinical internship at the University of Idaho, which allowed her to work with rural, farming, and indigenous communities. Her postdoctoral training was completed at the University of New Hampshire, which expanded her experience in working with integrative teams to provide outreach, groups, and individual therapy to adults going through difficult life transitions.

Miki is integrative in her therapy approach, using a variety of evidence-based practices to find what works best for each unique client. She has extensive experience working collaboratively with psychiatrists, nutritionists, medical staff, and community providers to help her clients obtain the best results efficiently and effectively.

Miki has experience working with depression, anxiety, trauma, family conflict, and challenging life transitions. More recently, she has been integrating neuroscience and the ways in which mind and body are connected, especially with traumatic experiences. She likes to work with adults looking to build self-awareness, self-compassion, connection, communication, and meaning.

Personally, Miki enjoys challenging herself to expand and adapt to different regions and cultures, and has traveled and lived in different places. She enjoys painting, playing the piano, and watching spooky movies. She has a love for improv comedy shows and enjoys seeing live comedy and music performances. Miki infuses her love of laughter into sessions, while also honoring the vulnerability and courage of her clients.
