Dr. Bernard M. Gerber is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from Southwestern Medical School at Dallas, completed an internship in internal medicine at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, and finished his residency in psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, affiliated with Harvard Medical School.
After completing his residency, Dr. Gerber joined Baylor College of Medicine as an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry. Since 1982, he has been in full-time private practice of psychiatry, currently focusing on outpatient treatment of a variety of psychiatric and mental health problems of adolescents and adults. He joined Hauser Clinic in 2000 following years in private Houston practice.
Dr. Gerber serves as a consultant to behavioral health clinics including Lighthouse of Houston, the PRISM Center, and Lovett Center. His leadership roles include past president of the Houston Psychiatric Society, the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, and the Harris County Medical Society. He maintains teaching activities at Baylor College of Medicine and UT Health Science Center Houston.
