Our program offers a safe, supportive space for those hoping to heal with little interruption to work, school or daily life.
Program Fast Facts
- For Adults 18+, this program may be helpful as a stand-alone treatment, or as transitional care following a residential recovery program
- Clients spend 10-12 hours each week working with our master’s-level therapists to develop skills to maintain long-term recovery, while also exploring any underlying issues
- Choice of multiple, inclusive recovery tracks
- Individual and group therapy and recovery support are utilized during this 8-week program, plus additional support for families, partners and program graduates
- Choice of in-person or virtual sessions
- Day or evening schedules available to accommodate different obligations
- This in-depth program may be beneficial for those who have found others ineffective

Meet The Program Leaders
Ernest Patterson, MS, LCDC
Program Director, Prairie SUD IOP
An award-winning Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) with a master’s in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University, Ernest has worked in the field of substance use and mental health for 20 years.
He is passionate about helping individuals who struggle with the disease of addiction, as well as their families, to heal and find recovery. Through the provision of education, relapse prevention, intervention and hands on treatment, and through teams of professionals, community and volunteer opportunities, Ernest has helped design proven treatment programs with successful results. He has been a part of the Ethos Behavioral Health Group team since January of 2019.

Dr. Bernard Gerber,
Psychiatrist—M.D. Medical Director
A graduate of the Southwestern Medical School at Dallas, Dr. Gerber completed an internship in internal medicine followed by a residency in psychiatry. Since 1982, he has been in full-time private practice of psychiatry, currently focusing on outpatient treatment for adolescents and adults of a variety of psychiatric and mental health issues.
In addition to serving clients and collaborating with clinicians at Ethos, Dr. Gerber also serves as a consultant to other behavioral health clinics at the Lighthouse of Houston. He is board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

Martha Fontana, LCSW
Vice President Of IOP Services
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work and intensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, biofeedback and chemical dependency counseling, Martha has extensive clinical and managerial experience working in outpatient and hospital- based programs with children, adolescents, adults and family members.
She has worked for over 30 years at Ethos Wellness – Prism to develop ethical, creative and effective treatment teams who deliver an exceptionally high quality of service, and it was here she founded the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Intensive Outpatient Program. Robert Hilliker,
LCSW-S, LCDC Chief Clinical Officer
Robert is driven by a deep commitment to serve others and is passionate about the subject of hope and despair in clinical treatment. His 17 years in the field of addiction and mental health encompass private practice, clinical supervision, the creation and management of clinical programming and the co-founding of The Lovett Center (now known as Ethos Wellness – Lovett) and its parent company Ethos Behavioral Health Group.
His resume includes long standing leadership positions at The Council on Alcohol and Drugs Houston, The Menninger Clinic and The Daring Way LLC, where he worked with Dr. Brené Brown and served as the Chief Clinical Officer. His career has been marked by many meaningful recognitions such as The Houston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 and the University of Houston’s 50 for 50 Alumni. Currently, Robert serves as Ethos Behavioral Health Group’s Chief Clinical Officer and is a doctoral candidate at the Institute for Clinical Social Work in Chicago.
