Sammie graduated from the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Houston-Clear Lake and is licensed by the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has been working in the mental health industry since 1990. Sammie was employed in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and mental health facilities before and after receiving her LPC license. She is an LPC Supervisor and a member in good standing with both the Texas Counseling Association and the Houston Counseling Association.

Sammie has been in private practice since 2002 and owns Houston Psychotherapists, Inc. Additionally, she has been the lead facilitator of The PRISM Center’s DBT-based Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Cypress, Texas, since its inception in 2015.
