Bernard M. Gerber, M.D., joined Hauser Clinic in 2000 after being in private practice in Houston for many years. Dr. Gerber is a graduate of the Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas in association with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He then completed a residency in psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, of the Harvard Medical School Department of Psychiatry.
After completing his training, Dr. Gerber joined the faculty of Baylor College of Medicine as Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. Since 1982, he has been in full-time private practice of psychiatry, currently focusing on outpatient treatment of a variety of psychiatric and mental health problems of adolescents and adults. He is serving as a consultant to other behavioral health clinics at the Lighthouse of Houston, the PRISM Center, and the Lovett Center in Houston.
Dr. Gerber has held a number of leadership positions in medical organizations. He is a past president of the Houston Psychiatric Society, the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, and the Harris County Medical Society. He continues to serve on boards and committees of these organizations. He has maintained his teaching activities at Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
Dr. Gerber is board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
